Oasis in a Human Desert

Everywhere you go, it seems, the mark of humanity can be found. Black asphalt cuts its dark line through what were once green and fertile hills.

...but there are no hills there anymore. Brick, concrete, metal dens for humans to breed their young and spread the disease of humanity across the planet stand, marring what once was a beautiful landscape. Humans are blind to their own destruction, to the ugliness their 'creations' bring. Even here, even in this tiny, forest oasis in the middle of traffic and housing developments, people invade. Aliens in a green world bring their hurried walking and shrill voices.

"Hurry up! What are you doing by that tree?! We have to be back by 3:00! Come ON!!!"

Their actions are sacrilegious. Even I know not their reasons for walking through the forest, if they wish not to savor it.

How many walk this same path and rush right past the beauty which lies here? This is my paradise, hidden, despite being in plain sight.
